Some of the modern finds at RCKNDY.What’s with the name, you are wondering. Well, the name of the hip purveyor of modern and unique furniture and home accessories on U Street is pronounced Rock Candy. “I chose the name RCKNDY because it’s bright and colorful and comes in a variety of flavors,” owner David Dennis tells me. “That’s what I think of the store, bright colorful and flavorful.”
The store, which will celebrate its two-year anniversary next month, carries a variety of modern home décor line such as Blu Dot, Gus Modern, Alessi, Blissliving Home (RCKNDY is holding a Blissliving truck sale May 7 -10), Iannone and Areaware among others. David says the store has evolved during the past two years to focus more on apartment and condo living. “I really try to scale all the furniture offered to fit in smaller places or offer space saving options such as sleeper sofas or storage beds,” he says.
When my wife and I were looking to do away with are old furniture in our den, we started the makeover (still in progress) with a Gus Modern Jane sofa with its Knoll-like look from RCKNDY. Beyond the brands mentioned above, you can find unique art pieces, such as the collection of 1950s vintage educational posters salvaged from a boys school in Paris (see below).

So, if you’re looking for modern furniture and accessories to decorate your pad, check out RCKNDY. I’m sure you will have a sweet experience.
