Cherry cabinets + brown granite + vinyl siding = FAIL
i agree with the failing grade for finish selections. there have been a couple of houses in HH that have needed work that were picked up for a renovation and flip. unfortunately, the 'upgrades' are all 'builder quality' and do not really fit in with the HH aesthetic. very disappointing. they could have probably when to ikea, saved money, and ended up with a nicer product.
Living in Hollins Hills, I must say that it is a shame. However, on the other hand, this house had been condemned. So, it is great that the house was saved from the condition it was in.
i agree that anything is an impovement to this house from its previous condition. but my comment was more about the trend - garage house on elba, this house on stafford, and soon the house on beechwood (same builder as elba).
I went to the open house on the previous post (N.Arlington), and they'd flipped the kitchen with really bad oak cabinets and really terrible not-even-builder-grade formica. The realtor said she'd tried to talk the ownder out of it, but they'd listened to the contractor instead.
It's a shame that so many people have no appreciation for the style of these homes. I even overheard one woman talking about knocking down the buit-in cabinets. That was one fo my favorite features! (you can see them in the pics of that house).
Its a shame the builder doesn't understand the aesthetic of many people interested in Goodman. I agree, with ingenuity, they could probably save money on their "upgrades" and save us the pain of seeing the concept skewed.
